Automation sounds futuristic, but in practice it means something modest: any task your team repeats the same way every day is a candidate for software. The trick is choosing the right first candidates.
1. Start with billing
Invoices, receipts and daily sales totals are pure repetition — the easiest and highest-value win.
2. Then attendance and payroll
A fingerprint device or app check-in removes the monthly reconciliation fight.
3. Automate the follow-up
Auto-reminders for unpaid invoices recover money you were too polite to chase.
4. Let stock reorder itself
Minimum-level alerts (or auto purchase orders) end the empty-shelf emergency.
5. Standardise reports
A dashboard that updates itself replaces the Sunday-night report-building ritual.
6. Only then look at AI
Chatbots and prediction tools work best on top of clean, automated processes — not instead of them.
Rule of thumb: automate the task you would refuse to do for one more year. Then the next one. Within a year the office feels twice its size.
